Roseanne House pt 2

Spread the love

Today I discovered Google Sketch Up, and guess what I did with it.

Roseanne Conner's Floor Plan
Roseanne Conner

That’s right folks.  A 3D RENDER of the Conner Family’s floor plan.  Here’s the detailed floorplan and it’s correct as far as I’ve been able to tell from watching every single episode an hour a day every morning.  From here you can see the *secret* hallway behind the pantry in the kitchen.

Roseanne's Living Room

Here’s the overview of the living room looking into the kitchen.  You can see the default Google man that looks surprisingly like little David Healy by Dan’s chair.  I even managed to find a textile pattern for their couch that’s eerilly similar to the actual set couch!

Here we have the kitchen as seen from the door to the basement.

Here’s the bathroom.  “Is this the sink am I shrinking?!?!”

Once I can figure out how to upload files onto wordpress I’ll upload the sketchup image so you can all play in it.

  1. Very awesome. I am a big fan of this show, and have always had an interest in floor plans as well. I think it would be super cool to have a house like this…to simplify life! Thanks for your hard work…you rock!

  2. Nice work!

If anyone’s interested, I have amateur floorplans of the Tanner House from Full House that I did using MSPaint. Basement, 1st floor, a way to connect the living room and kitchen stairways to the second floor, the second floor, and the attic.

  3. I thought I was the only one who wondered about the layout of the house. The upstairs had one bath correct but some how wasnt it connected to both bedrooms and shared??
    Thanks

  4. In early episodes the basement door was off the kitchen like you se in the sketch but later when David lives with the Conners the basement door is through the serviece porch.

  5. It’s pretty accurate, except for the location of the bathroom door. Watch the “I’m Hungry” episode in season 2, specifically when Roseanne goes into the bathroom to sneak potato chips. The door is behind the bathtub. 🙂

  6. The girls and DJ share a bathroom. In the episode Homeward Bound Dan says to Darlene “why aren’t you using your bathroom?’ and Darlene replies “Because DJ’s been in there for an hour, it’s the only one that has a lock on it”

Also, in the one where DJ is spying on Molly, the girls bathroom is purple and when Darlene enters DJ’s bedroom through the door next to his bed you can see a purple wall.

  7. The kitchen layout is wrong on here. You don’t have the door that goes to the laundry room marked. And the counter space/sink is in the wrong spot. when you walk into the kitchen from the living room, the window is on that wall you’re facing. but the pantry is basically in the right spot.

  8. I was thrilled when I found this blog! I thought I was the only one out there Rosanne Nerdy enough to be confused by the master bed/bath dilemma. I do think your L shaped hallway solves the issue. Just thinking about the layout of the upstairs gives me a headache. The position of the staircase…the sharing of the bathroom.. Going out the girls’ bedroom to go to DJ’s room, but going the opposite way to get to the bathroom which when shown has no other door.
And Sheila is right, in the later episodes when anyone went to the basement they went to the screen porch, but in the last episode you got to see a door in the kitchen opposite the fridge.
Like the rest of you, I can still watch this show anytime, anywhere and for hours at a time. Great to know I am not alone in this! Cheers all.

  9. OMG. you are a godsend! first of all, i cannot explain to you how much Roseanne means to me. i fall asleep to the show EVERY NIGHT for i would say… the past i dunno… 8 years. and of course i watched the show while it was actually on. so it is 2:18 AM here in NY i am watching Roseanne, naturally. and the house lay out ALWAYS boggled me. i sat down and tried to draw it up bit failed. i was more concerned with the 2nd floor making NO sense. well i was laying here, thought about the layout once again, sat up to try and draw it but failed again. so i decided to google it, i stumbled upon this site. you have NO ida how excited i was to find this!!!! and i am SO glad you have no idea about the 2nd floor either! i thought it was me. its so good to see your thoughts confirmed by other fans :)) thanks for posting this!

    1. awesome! I’m so glad that this site found you well. When I first did it I was in the same boat as you, I sketched it out over and over again then one day it totally clicked. I just posted it for fun and little did I know this question has plagued the minds of thousands of other Roseanne fans.

  10. I was so happy when I found this,, I’ll admit I’m completley obsessed with this house and have been trying to
fingure out the whole bedroom/bathroom layout for ages!!!!!
    I ♥♥♥Roseanne!!!!

    thanks!!!!

  11. Can you do a blueprint of the back yard? I always got confused b/c they seemed to walk in from the garage sometimes but you can clearly see in the beginning scenes that the garage is not attached. Also with the way the floor plan is, the porch opens to the side yard and not the back yard. It’s been driving me nuts for years!

    1. I can most definitely try! I’ve been working on a much cleaner render on Sketch Up so I’ll make sure and include a backyard view! Just for you, DUNDER-Catt 😉

  12. Yay! I’m so glad I found this! I love Roseanne 🙂 We need good shows like this again. But, the kitchen does look a little messed up. Like when they walk into the kitchen from the living room, the sink and stuff is on the wall infront of them. I think the angles are just funny in the kitchen. You have them making a left to walk into the laundry room.

Thanks so much for figuring this out for all of us!!

  13. This is so cool. I am 34 now but when I was young and watched the show I dreamed of this house. I thought the placement of everything was so neat. Thanks for this. I still watch the show, it’s timeless to me.

  14. Hey you have pretty good plans there but I need to point out one mistake. Where the bathroom door into the hall lets out is slightly off. When you look at the tiny space between the tub and the wall that abuts the porch the door is not straight ahead forming the end of that small “hallway”. That cutout space ends in a wall and the bathroom door is behind the tub and on the same wall that the mini wall of the tub is. Basically you would have to walk to the left of the tub into that dead space and the door would be on your right.

Where you have it emptying behind the “secret” cutout behind the pantry shelves is correct but it’s not as big an area as you have in that layout because the door doesn’t call for as much room as it does where you have it which is (respectfully) not correct. The cutout area is only as wide as it is seen between the tub and the porch window because the door being behind the tub puts it out directly into the end of the hallway (on the right side is viewed from the living room). Otherwise great job with it!

  15. Oh and just in case you have access to the dvds (or it’s on Netflix right now) watch the episode where they smoke pot (title has the word “stash” in it) and you can see what I’m talking about for yourself in the scene where they’re all stoned in the bathroom. It shows clearly that there is a wall where the door is in these mockups and the door isn’t visible although it’s obvious since you’ve all ready done the legwork on it here.

    1. Yeah I actually noticed it after I did the layout, on the same episode you’re talking about! It was hard as hell to make the damn thing in google sketch up and the computer I had the original on got fried so eventually I’ll get around to making a new one. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for stopping by!!!

  16. Great Job! I too am obsessed with Roseanne. The downstairs floor plan never really bugged me except for than second door in the bathroom. What really boggles the mind, is the upstairs floor plan. Until the episode when Fisher beats Jackie and Darlene walks in on her through DJ’s room, there never seems to be a mention of DJ’s room sharing a bathroom with Becky and Darlene’s room. It was always implied that it was the Becky and Darlene’s bathroom. This totally threw me off! I still don’t understand after years of trying to make sense of it all, just how the floor plan is really laid out upstairs. Everything seems to be turned around.

  17. I had no idea that there was so much confusion regarding the two entrances to the Conners’ master bathroom. I had an argument (friendly one, of course) with my husband about this, because he wasn’t understanding the layout. To me, the layout always made perfect sense. Is the actual hallway to Roseanne’s bedroom what threw everyone off? I always understood that there were two separate hallways – one to the bedroom, and one that ultimately led to the linen closet, with the second access door to the bathroom on the right. I always thought this was a neat set up, and very original. Of course the interior set isn’t going to match the exterior – but they do the best that they can. The exterior of the house serves its purpose – defining the fact that a hard-working, blue collar American family lives inside.
I’ve adored Roseanne for 20+ years. I’m very glad to see that the show’s impact lives on, and has touched so many lives besides my own. Thank you for this website! 🙂

  18. Good job. It’s not actually possible to make an accurate house floor plan, because the set doesn’t have to fit together.
The wall corners on set are often more than 90 degrees, even though they are supposed to represent 90 corners. If you see the actual set from above, it doesn’t at all look like a house, and won’t fit in any rectangular shape.
The window in the master bedroom should be facing the neighbor, and not the street. You see this in the episode where their neighbors walk around naked in their house.

  19. The kitchen is actually almost a triangle on set. That’s why it’s easy to get confused about which way it’s turned.

  20. Love this ❤️ I have always wondered about the floor plan too. I thought the bathroom was attached to the master bedroom. Any way, thanks 🙂

  21. Just saw the naked neighbor episode and was going to make the same comment about the master bedroom window. Unless they are really liberal about the definition of “next door neighbor” and include neighbors across the street.
